community. identity. stability.

these are the three things that we, as humans, seek and desire in our lives.

these are also the three things that keep the structure in tact.

community. identity. stability.

there are disconnects, though, between the structural molds for these three things, and the way people seem to want to experience them these days.

community. identity. stability.  mean different things to different organizations, to different politicians, to different corporations, to different individuals… yet, they are what we all want… our own versions of them.

i wonder… is there a way to have all the definitions of community. identity. stability. exist in the same time and space with one another harmoniously…  a way to allow the multitude of voices emerge as self-governing political units?

or, are we destined to forever be trying to exert outmoded, historically defined, organizational, political, economic, cultural and individual definitions of community. identity. stability. as if they are the best we can hope to achieve.

with those who hold the organizational, political, and economic power as those who receive the right to define our individuals needs for community. identity. stability. and who say this is the best we got so we need to operate within its parameters

to direct those things for us through bureaucracy, policy and the market.

to define and directly effect how we as individuals experience community. identity. stability…

the disconnect exists between the ideals  of community. identity. stability. and how easy or hard it is for us to be able to achieve those ideals given the parameters and boundaries we are confined to in our existences…

the assumption is that we individuals need regulatory bodies, to set the boundaries of our existence through symbols and structures, roles and rules, laws and orders… and perhaps that assumption is a valid one for today…

but, shouldn’t we be working towards self-governing as our higher calling rather than struggling so hard to continue to exist in a corporatist-democracy?

are we… as a species… capable of abstract thought and being… able to transcend the very structures that have created us?
